Watching television has become the unsung hero in the battle between love and emotional indifference, between good and evil. For as we learn how to develop our empathy, our logic, our more highly evolved abilities, we learn how to control the more primitive elements of our primitive past.
Storytelling evolved from the spoken word, to the pen and back to the spoken word, yet enhanced by the languages of music, visual metaphors and visual puns. The language of the dream, in all its levels of communication, became plays and then movies, all streamed into our televisions. Storytelling is an essential part of the evolution of humanity, for, as the legend of Two Wolves tells, it is how our own neurology fixes itself and enables others to do the same. Thus watching television, especially fiction, is a form of social medication, social vaccination.
