We need real leaders, ones we would follow by our own choices because they are wise and loving. We need leaders who have real psychological maturity, leaders who are clever enough to assess multiple perspectives, multiple factors, take account of science, take account of human biology, take account of conservation issues - and make good choices. Once we have those leaders society will work. We are a species that requires leaders because we are a role-modelling species. We did not evolve to take our lessons verbally, though we are able to now, yet we evolved to take our lessons through observe, imitate, practice, master... Thus when the leader sets a bad example, despite our best efforts, human society starts to imitate the poor leader in all of their vices. And then, to top it all off, when good people step forward, because of the example of the bad leader, they are subject to scorn and ridicule instead of being welcomed. We find that philanthropists and charity organisers become the targets of vitriol while obviously greedy liars get off scot free. The only way out is to put good people in a position where they can be voted for and then vote for them. Change happens when we support and follow the right people, when we put the kind of people on the podium that we want our kids, friends and neighbours to have as a role model. Over time, the attributes of leadership become the attributes of society.
Under blue skies or grey, in heaven spun rain, hail or sunshine - vote. Vote for a stable leadership because the world needs stable democracies run by psychologically mature adults.
