Sustainable development is the guardianship of God's creation, of fellow humanity and life on Earth, and there can be no higher calling.
Only in a world in which both social policies and the creative arts enhance the development of the upper brain (logical analysis and creative empathy) can we have sustainable development.
There can only be longterm sustainable development when creative writing and its interactions with brain development via neuroplasticity are acknowledged and taken on as a societal responsibility; and this is meant in the wide lens, the non-puritan way, the scientific way - to look realistically at the verbal and non-verbal languages of the brain in different cultural contexts and build our whole-brained communication system (creative arts/writing/movies) accordingly.
The money-nexus requires the acceleration of people and goods, sustainable development requires the opposite, and no amount of words can ever change that. We can tweak the monetary system to allow for safer deceleration and increased societal fairness, and those approaches are far preferable to the system crashing due to the negative chaos that would follow. Thus we can begin to tap the brakes, make alterations to social policy so that standards of living improve, then rinse repeat until sustainability is achieved. Yet sustainable development requires the removal of the money nexus as a medium-longterm goal other wise the world would always be at risk of a reversal and creation being plundered once more.
