He was always pulling stunts; I guess he was psychologically stunted, hadn't grown up. If he could only have matured, become more responsible and learned to put his own ego aside, maybe we'd have had a chance. But he only saw things from his own perspective and took no account of the pains of others - emotional or physical. I guess that's the inner-toddler at work, he was still one soul in his own universe and everyone else was there for his amusement or to do stuff for him. His psychology saw them as bit players in his world and not entitled to their own script. The stunts were funny when we were kids, but decades later they're such a strain, so exhausting. And that wasn't even the worst of it. He was uncomfortable with others growing around him, so he became meaner, trying desperately to pull them down to his level, hurting and damaging them. In the end, he wasn't simply stunted, he was a poison to everyone around him. The closer the person was to him, the more toxic he was.
