When you're running for your life, for the lives of your kids, there's no time to cry. So call me stoic if you want, but the absence of tears can indicate pains too deep for that kind of grief expression. I think it is a kind of shock that stays as it is, it is too vast to process so you freeze it until it dies then move on from it. I guess that is how we use ice to let it go.
