A reaction comes from your primitive brain, it is raw emotion that has yet to receive and accept the logic and empathy of the more highly evolved prefrontal cortex. A response is what happens when there has been time for the raw emotions, especially fear, to ebb and the prefrontal cortex has its say in the matter.
"Personally," said Mark, "I have always found self control and creativity to have direct proportionality - more of one means more of the other. I guess when you stop using primitive reactions to solve problems the rest of your brain has a chance to respond with something infinitely smarter."
