I'm your knight. Protective chivalry is my thing. If anyone messes with you I promise I'll be their nightmare. I'll ride them until they drop. Trust me, I'm real good at it.
The knight has his code, his chivalry, and this is what makes him part of "the good," that he can hold on to what love is and be a protective force even when others are swayed by devil tongues.
In every cold storm a lady will stand firm and fight the good fight, yet when her knight comes she welcomes him because together they are more than the sum of their union.
We call them "knights in shining armour" perhaps because in the night we need "amour" or "love" to shine for us. Or perhaps it is that only love can find its way through the armour we all wear and polish, hiding the self that is so vulnerable and soft. Either way, when the joust began there was only ever going to be one winner for me, they could polish the metal and strut all they wanted, my heart had been taken, or perhaps I gave it away one starlit eve.
It is in the darkest of moment that the soul will shine brightly, and that is what made them knights - that they would be our guides even cruelty wasn't seen as stupid or wrong anymore. They were the ones that rode into battle when the rest couldn't find their way to nobility, when bravery was a whisper of the past. They had their shining armour and the most glorious stubbornness to stand up for what was right. And so we never saw them as mortal men, to us they were as gods, the ones who took the tongues of tyranny and rammed them back down their throats.
