If society cannot broadly raise the wages of key workers to the level of comfort they deserve, then perhaps we can work toward a national system that works cooperatively (on a voluntary basis) with industry to reduce their expenditures. After all, if you can't raise the roof, dig out the basement. We need to take care of those who take care of us, it's the right thing to do.
