Everyone around here jogs between the buildings and runs up the stairs... everyone except Bob... who walks as if his brain is at war with his body.
"Keeping fit is simple when you dance, it's the sitting around that makes you sick. We were built for movement! See that flexible spine and those arms that want to mark out a beat. Feel those feet that need to leap, to get some air time."
"You know, Erin, it's weird. But at the start of this exercising I was looking for results and saw nothing. Then I forgot all about looking for improvements and carried on with the exercise. Now people who haven't seen me in a while comment on how different I look, and I guess I do. I feel better too. There's real muscle on me where there wasn't and I love it. Getting fit and keeping fit are really the same thing I suppose, it's just something you do every day."
My transport is my legs or my bicycle. The adverts make it look like all grown-ups have cars, but you can make a different choice. You can choose to live in a more environmentally friendly way and stay fit. As a bonus it's good for your brain too, developing more neurones, allowing thoughts to flow more freely and boosting creativity. Keeping fit is easy when it's a part of the way you choose to live instead of an "added extra."
When the microwave is on I do jumping jacks. When the kettle boils I do squats. When the adverts are on between my programs I lift hand weights. After washroom breaks I do different kinds of push ups. Keeping fit is simple when you add these simple, and mostly body weight workouts, to everyday living. It's not about going to the gym (unless you want to), it's about making the most of those otherwise stationary few seconds work in your favour.
