The journalist has a role in explaining complex information at a simple and easily digestible level, yet they are also therapists to nations, and this role must be well taught.
My old journalism professor would say that when others present arguments based in only emotions and prejudices, reply in such a manner that acknowledges the legitimacy of their emotions and pulls the legs from under their prejudices. Make them utilise their prefrontal cortex to formulate a proper response, otherwise reactions cause an increased dislocation from empathy, conceptual truths, logic and science.
