Dead people are the natural progression of alive people in the passing of time, there is only tragedy if there was suffering or foul deeds. To pass of natural causes at an esteemed age is a reason for gratitude.
We all pass on, we all move from being a person to a cadaver, the tragedy thus is not death but when, where and how? If the life was one of joy and love it is a time of celebration and thanks. If the life were lived in suffering and struggle, or cut short by violence, then it is a tragedy greater than Shakespeare ever wrote.
Dead people, dead animals, are meat once the spark has passed on... and as we treat our dead with reverence and respect and marvel that the miracle of the soul, perhaps we can find new respect for our fellow mammals.
Dead people are the matter we leave as our souls seek the light, and showing respect to the body matters. It is part of the way we say farewell.
