Amid the pandemic we shifted to competency style exams with a greater choice of open ended questions for the student to demonstrate competency from. As such, missed periods of schooling were less of an issue. If the student could demonstrate high ability in several areas then it could be assumed that they have the ability to master all of the areas. From this their potential for the next level of study was assessed and grades awarded alongside commendation statements that spoke to individual strengths.
