When you work for the benefit of all humanity, appreciated or not by your contemporaries or community, the good universe colludes to raise you up and bring opportunities. The evil force will do the opposite. When you learn how to make each curse a blessing, to learn from pain and be led through your sense of love and integrity, then you win great things for all. That is the way of the hero and the hera.
So, God is a socialist. He believes in giving to the poor and giving to help the natural world thrive and survive. He believes in community and that love is more important than riches on Earth. Additionally, He said because He made Earth He owns it and therefore, if you insist on using a money-nexus, He's going to start taxing the rich to pay for His global social and environmental programs. So, you can either do this the easy way or the hard way... the easy way sounds much nicer if I'm honest.
As a hammer fractures a perfect vase, so poverty fractures my community. For though we can make all everybody needs, the financial system becomes a barbaric rationing in this war of ego at the expense of virtue. We can go on trying for different societal glues for our vase or we can stop the hammer falling on future generations. That is our real choice.
My community is the new seeds and aged oaks with golden autumnal leaves. It is the smiles of new joys and the mirth of aged reminiscence and wisdom. My community is the student and the teacher, the baker and the line of eager customers. My community is the nurse and the soldier, whatever uniform they bare; we all seek peace and a place to call home. My community is the birds and the dogs who run. I can't make divisions or frontiers where there are none. We are in this life together, all of us.
From the personal relationship comes the family, from the family comes the community, from the communities come nations and all of humanity. We are an ecosystem of interrelated needs and provisions. As I write to inspire, I sit on a chair I did not make, nor could I. I rest my computer on a table and raise a glass to drink from. Everything I eat I never grew, nor processed or transported. If I become unwell I am treated by medical staff I did not train nor raise from babyhood. And beyond these physical needs, I have emotional needs also. I can love myself but I need hugs and affection from others. I can respect myself but I still want others to respect me. To my core I am a social animal, not a mountain lioness. In everything I do I want the "pat on the back," but also to feel that I am part of a team with a joint horizon.
The community makes the waters in which we all swim, that is our truth. We can only be vibrant individuals within a strong society that nurtures. No person in this technological world may live and thrive without the basics we evolved to need: food, shelter, water and love. Whom provides these? Whom lays the pipes, tends the plants, mortars the bricks and is ever there with a welcoming hug? We attempt to stand on the highest rung of the ladder, forever reaching for the stars, while hacking away at the base of the same ladder. In society, taking care of the basics of life, the absolute essentials, is a noble cause to give ones life to; it is the lack of respect for those professions and people that is the axe to our ladder. Lack of respect for women brings female infanticide and sex trafficking the same way that lack of respect for nature brings ecological catastrophe. When will we become a real community and see that love and respect for all shown in emotional and practical ways is a vital necessity and not an optional add-on.
This society we have is a puzzle in which the pieces choose how they grow themselves, and what we did in the past and intend to do in the future informs our present development. Yet the real decider of past, present and future, is those tiny choices we make moment to moment to be loving or not. We are the ever changing pieces finding that we either fit or don't and responding intelligently or reacting with impulsivity. The question for our communities is what kind of picture are we going to make together? Personally I want to have vibrant colours right to my edges, the hues of nature that inspire a bold kind of living with love. I want to be as flexible as possible to allow others to fit with greater ease and still remain truly myself.
It's not that I help you and you help me, rather I help him, you help her, and because we all do that, there is help for us all. We all have skills and areas of need, and when our skill matches the needs of another there is the most wonderful feeling of joy. We find an opportunity to help! That's community and it's awesome.
