Sarah loved her Franken-desserts, and this Christmas it was the cupcake-mince pie. I was skeptical at first, but her enthusiasm one me over. She had one of those infections up beat personalities, the sort you have an urge to protect the same as a candle flame in outdoor air.
We did Christmas desserts "Nailed it" style, didn't matter what it looked like and the effort was always appreciated.
If you asked Nana what a Christmas dessert was, she wouldn't miss a beat, "Mulled wine and mince pie." I guess the things we come to love in childhood stick with us, they have the power to bring back good memories and lift the spirit. So no matter what, come Christmas Day, we got her what she wanted.

Christmas dessert in our house was a sort of brownie fudge sundae. It was mom's brownie recipe, cookie-dough ice cream, and some melted chocolate on top.
