Art heals, art is escape, yet sport give the same benefits, and combined they are truly a powerful uplifting force.
When there was sadness in my youth, sport was there to remind me that I am strong and can become stronger through consistent effort.
There is a part of my soul that needs sport to express itself in that innate language we are all born with, the one before we learn words and culture. It is the part of me that was born to run, born to feel freedom in movement and joy at my own strength.
So many of my best ideas have come during sport, especially while running or cycling. Something about that movement, that activity, it frees the brain and lets through ideas that otherwise may have been whispers unheard.
The endorphins of the sport were my happiness when happiness was otherwise hard to find.
Sport gave me the feeling of emerging from the waves and currents that pulled me so, the feeling that I could be a champion in my lifetime.
