If humanity is standing upon stilts, feelings so tall, it is important to note that the bottom few miles of these stilts are made of plankton. If the plankton "falls," humanity falls too.
Phytoplankton is the start of so many chains of nutrients for marine life, for without these tiny plants we cannot have the rich complexity of sentient life our oceans support.
Albeit the animal zooplankton or the plant phytoplankton, the shoals of fish and the pods of whales are dependant upon their health, as are we.
The phytoplankton creates a large part of the oxygen you breathe, so even if we cannot agree on the immorality of vandalising creation, perhaps we can muster a consensus around how humanity survives the current environmental emergency?
