The fashion models back then looked like back-alley junkies, thin, starved and cruel within. They looked as if they could neither give nor accept empathy, a visual "how to" manual for loneliness and social dysfunction.
I wonder why folks didn't see it, how the fashion models were asked to appear grumpy and emotionally cut off... how the young became so anxious and depressed... pressured into being the opposite of what nature needs... fit, healthy and happily gregarious.
Fashion got a lot better when we asked fit people to become our models instead of thin people. The clothes fitted great and soon young girls especially were getting fitter instead of starving themselves. Role models are important, and fashion models certainly are.
What kind of society would role model to its kids to look emaciated and emotionally aloof? Humans are born for making loving connections and to become fit, happy and joyful. Those photos of the fashion models were vices for our emotions and self esteem.
