To bake is to nurture, to offer food with a sense of love. It is how I enjoy my weekends, a chance to relax and be in a different mode from my Monday to Fridays.
"We would bake every afternoon after school, me and Mike and Jess. It seemed like such magic at first, taking that flour and butter and eggs and sugar and making something we could eat. Perhaps that's how we got on the road to where we are now, opening our bakery on the street corner of our old neighbourhood."
Baking is my meditation and a way to show others how much I care.
I bake when I have that luxury of time, time to potter about the kitchen and fill the house with the aromas of home.
I love to shape the bread, to knead it into the soft and pliable buns, to dip it into a bowl of seeds and set it upon a tray to prove.
